RV Description
2001 Winnebago in good condition. Strong e450 Ford chassis. Only 50k miles. We are not the first owners, obviously, and the previous owner kinda didnt come clean with all the issues. So, I have done quite a bit of work in the rv, but it still needs a bit more.
The real positive of the unit is the strong engine. The e450 is a real hardworking reliable engine. Since weve owned it, we have taken two long trips. The first was from our home in southwest Florida to San Diego. It was a wonderful trip and the rv performed flawlessly. It got around 8 miles per gallon, and we had no mechanical issues. We did however, discover the main, unresolved issue the previous owner neglected, or should I say, lied about to us. That was the issue of leakage through the cab over the drivers area. After the San Diego trip, I eternabonded (200mph tape) the seams on the roof that I thought were likely areas of water intrusion. Soon after, we took another trip, this time from our home to Prince Edward Island in Canada, then back to Acadia National Park in Maine. I had replaced the aging tires on the rv with new Goodyears (which you can see in the photos) and once again, the rv performed flawlessly with no mechanical issues. Again, unfortunately, water still was an issue. Then we contracted covid and the wife decided that was all for the rv lifestyle..so here we are, selling the unit.
The items that will need attention are shorter than they were, but still require work that Im just not going to be able to accomplish. The leak is still there, albeit a lot less intrusive than it was (I painted the roof this late summer with an elastomeric paint that is another bandaid for the leak). The slide out needs adjustment, as it scrapes as its retracted. I put new peel and stick tiles in the rv, and I let the slide run over a carpet remnant so as to not scrape the new tiles. Other than those 2 large items, the rv is in really pretty good condition. There will need to be some modifications on the sides of the cabover to dress it up a bit. I just didnt know how to go about it. Also, the awning electrical connection has been severed, by me, because thats where I thought some of the water intrusion was originating. It shouldnt be a major project for someone to replace the connection. The switches are included in the parts bin included.
The updates that we made are as follows; the aforementioned new tires, a new toilet in 2024 (bought in South Carolina), new sink and faucet in bathroom, painted shower with marine paint-very durable, new queen size mattress, new/used refrigerator (bought from a local repair shop that replaced it for another client(need to replace a brace for fridge), redid (sp) the cab over area so that it can now be used for storage or maybe even a bed (if you want to modify it a bit more) because the leak ruined the area before. We kinda painted the interior, just not a real good professional job. We had to have the front passengers side window replaced when a bungee cord slapped the window as it was covered during hurricane season last year. I did all the work myself on the interior items mentioned. I did recently have a local rv repair shop service the heater and electric steps, which now work great.
Im going to leave several items with the unit, including the Blue Ox tow bar for flat towing a dinghy car behind you. If you know rvs and travel, you know how valuable that is. Im leaving some items that will be beneficial to the rv lifestyle, as we wont need them any longer. Two tvs are being left. One in the bedroom on the wall, and another freestanding tv that will need to be stowed for travel, as its only mounted on a base.
Were asking $15,000 for the rv, which is less than we paid. I wont be opposed to a little negotiation, but Ill tell you right now, not much. I researched a new roof and theres a company out of Fort Myers that can basically make it new for around 5k. It might be a bit more with any repairs of the roof, but thats what they told me. The rv is paid for, and I have the paper title.
It can be seen by appointment in Rotonda West. Late afternoons are my best time to show, as I pretty much golf everyday.
If you read this whole spiel, thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.
