RV Description

1997 Gulfstream Sun Voyager Bus Class A Turbo-Diesel Motorhome with 113,128 miles. Only 2 other owners: the original owner, who then sold it to his daughter and son-in-law. They completely renovated the inside of it 5 years ago in 2020. My wife and I bought it from them in 2021 with 109,000 miles on it. We only drove it around FL to state parks and put 4,000 miles on it, so it only has a little over 113,000 miles on it.

Here is our Google drive link to 100+ pictures of the rv, including a couple short videos too.

The first of the videos is me walking through the rv showing everything inside is working well while hooked up to power, using a generator. The second short video is of the tv raising up from behind the fireplace using a built-in button on the side of the cabinet.

We paid $18,000 for it four years ago and put a couple thousand more into it. Granted, we understand with the electrical issue you’ll see below, not being resolved yet, that even an asking price of $14,000 is too much. So we’re open to other offers too. Hoping to get it fixed soon though, so we can sell it in the better condition it was in when we were driving it, and so that we can of course sell it for a better price too, rather than just a price with the engine not running.

The electrical issue has affected the drivability of the rv. Here’s what happened and what a mechanic told me who looked at it recently.

I recently bought 4 brand new batteries and the mechanic put them in on March 20th, but he said the engine isn’t getting any connection / relay from the electrical system in order to turn the engine over. After talking to the mechanic I realized the reason is because some stormwater under the rv had risen up just enough to get into the bottom of the electric panels in two of the basement compartments. Fortunately the water only got into the bottom part of the compartments, and not up any higher which is good. Another good thing is that no water at all got up into the rv itself. Also, another good thing is that the roof is very well sealed too with absolutely no leaks at all.

The mechanic told me that most likely it’s going to need some of the solenoids replaced, as well as some fuses and a few other electrical components too, in order to restore the signals to the engine and get it driving again.

The motorhome is a class A turbo diesel with a strong Cummins engine in it. The engine is in the back of the rv, so this type is called a “diesel pusher” since it’s in the rear, instead of the engine being in the front by the driver and passenger, like in a gas powered motorhome. Those gas kind are noisier and hotter up front, compared to diesel engines that are way in the back of motorhomes like this one. It makes for a much more pleasant ride.

Also, similar to a semi-truck’s engine, these turbo diesel engines are built to go long distances, cross-country. I say that to say, it’s a strong engine and never gave us any problems whatsoever. I just haven’t had the time to fix it, especially with us moving up north in a month from now with all the other things we have going on right now.

Again, I have four brand new batteries in it, so as soon as the electrical issues are resolved, I really do believe it’ll start up and drive again. We hate to even sell it, but with us moving up north to the snow and having to winterize it, plus getting ready for our first grandchild, we have so many other things on our plate right now, so we’ve decided to just go ahead and sell it.

The mechanic told me that if someone is looking for a nice comfortable place to live in while the electrical issue is being looked into, then it’s perfect, especially since everything inside works great when it’s hooked up to shore power, or to a generator like I did when I recorded the video of everything working on the inside.

Would love to sell it soon since we’re leaving in a month from now to move up north. If you’d like to take a look at it in-person, let me know and I’ll be glad to show it anytime. It’s located in Oldsmar off Race Track Rd. My phone # is (813) 235 5541.
